DECEMBER MADE OF MAGIC

CHAPTER 1

My Eyes Spot an Unfamiliar Light

The sound of my mom calling jerked me away from my slumber."Charlotte! Sweetie wakey wakey its christmas morning!" I stirred on the mattress and perceived my surroundings. The first thing I saw was the gentle face of my mom looking down at me with an affectionate gaze."Dont you wanna open your gifts sweetie?" She asked.

I opened my eyes fully as I heard about gifts and gave a quick smile to her while nodding enthusiastically. She grinned at my enthusiastic nod and shook her head."I'll be downstairs darling...if you need anything just call me..." With that she left my room..

I jumped out my comfy cocoon and tucked the bedsheets in place. As my feet touched the cold flooring, a familiar chill ran down my feet and into my body which reminded me of the speciality of this month; December..

Making my way to the bathroom, I gave myself a soothing hot bath and a thorough brush to my teeth before getting dressed up into a warm clothes with a fur coat and headed down to meet my gifts.

"Gifts! Gifts! Yay!" I screamed excitedly while my mom made a cup of hot cocoa for me. "Listen up kiddo! One at a time..." She smiled at me and ruffled my hair playfully. I smiled back at her as I sipped the hot cocoa and began opening up the exciting bundle of gifts presented to me down the christmas tree. The presents gifted to me left me speechless. A journal, a few stuffed animals, some candy....and the list goes on. I hugged my parents tightly and bounced off to step outside after setting the cup of hot cocoa down.

The cold air hit me when I stepped out and I felt myself shivering. Twinkling lights hanging from the fir trees although dim, provided a great sight to my eyes.

Then I noticed something. Something too bright and too wrong from the dim lights. A golden, shimmering light situated itself between a crowd of fir trees. It was almost hidden and my curiosity got the better of me as I started to advance towards it.

CHAPTER 2

The Time I got Abducted by Golden Light

Once I reached the light, I extended my fingers to touch it. A warm glow crept onto my hands and an invisible force pulled me further towards the light. I screamed as it kept pulling me until I was fully enveloped inside the light. The world before me starts to spin and everything became blurred. Once my vision cleared, I found myself standing in an unfamiliar land. I could feel my heartbeat quickening its pace and my panic started to deepen. A castle stood in the middle surrounded by some similar fir trees. It had a beautiful architecture with twelve pillars. Snow covered the roofing of the castle like a white-clad cloak. The snowflakes falling down were like delicate glass and then I relaxed to the peaceful sight.I found myself getting more excited rather than frightened like I was before. My legs started moving towards the castle. Its architecture and in...

CHAPTER 3

A Cocky boy saved me from a creepy woman

When I opened my eyes, I found myself tied to a chair. A woman who wore a blue icy gown with blonde hair and shimmering ocean eyes stood before me with a wicked grin.

"Oh sweetheart....You fell right into my trap...such a pretty thing won't go to waste...perhaps you stay right here with me...you should taste amazing too..." she cooed as her fingers brushed my cheeks.

A chill ran through my spine and I found myself trembling from both fear and cold.

The woman placed both her hands on her face and then she began to transform into something monstrous.

A creature with terrifying glowing red eyes and a twisted smile appeared right before me. The woman, now a monster looked at me with desire and hunger. She advanced towards me, her mouth watering as she took me by my shoulders while I closed my eyes helplessly.

But before she could taste me, a sword came clashing towards her arm but she dodged it and snarled. Looking back, she found herself with a young boy who was around my age. A 12 year old boy stood his ground with his sword pointed at her throat now.

I popped one of my eyes open to look at the saviour who I owe my life. And then my face broke into a look of relief and concern. He was a boy close to my age. How could he possibly defeat this weird creepy woman.

He looked at me and smiled and so, I gave him a slight smile back.

The woman's voice boomed through her castle walls.

"You dare interfere in our matter, son of Aiser!?" He looked at her with a mocking smile.

"Why do you need a human Delein? Miss your mortal friends that much?" He said in a teasing tune and I could sense her anger rising up faster than a volcano. "That's is none of you business Eileph!" She snarled at him and he pushed the sword deeper, drawing a thin line of blood which made me gasp. He then smirked. "If you dont let this mortal go, then I'll end you right here. Wouldn't that be pathetic to die infront of a mortal?" She looked at him with pure hatred before pushing me towards him and then transformed back to her human form which everyone adores. Now I understood that she was using her form as a lure which made my heart run cold.

He then took my hand and ran towards the exit innocently like a child. I almost forgot that he was one because of his brave display of power against Delein. As my breathing became hitched, he stopped running and looked at me with an innocent smile.

"Soo whats your name bud?"

I looked at him and then took the opportunity to become friends.

"I'm Charlotte and I heard you were Eil- Eylie?"

"Eileph. Is my name that hard?" he corrected me with a laugh.

"No not at all am just very bad at pronouncing. I twist my tongue every time..." I laughed along with him.

"Soo Charlotte, I hope you know where you are because you almost got yourselves killed.." He shook his head.

CHAPTER 4

The Cocky boy offered me some space

"Where am I" I asked him, now turning serious.

"You're in Icelia, a world full of creatures that you don't wanna know or see. I'm the son of Aiser, the king of the kingdom of Weiline and everything you see here are creatures who can live forever. So that means you're a mortal stuck between immortals." He laughed finding the situation funny.

I looked at him seriously, panic rising in my eyes and was now mad at him for finding my situation amusing.

"How can I go back? To earth? To my home? To my parents!?" I shouted at him desperately. He looked at me and tried to calm my worried self. "Okay Charlotte, Calm down sis...So I have no idea how you go back but...there might be a way so calm down..."

I took a deep breath and sighed. "Okay...there might be a way...I got here by a golden shimmering light..." He looked at me with wide eyes before bursting into laughter. "Oh my god, you're funny! Seriously how did you even come up with that!?"

I looked at him for a moment before giving a slap to his arm which immediately shut him up.

"Okay okay got it...But is that even true?" He asked, still chuckling.

I gave him a sharp look with my brown eyes. "Yes its true and am not lying." I said in a serious tone.

He looked at me for a moment, his expression thoughtful. Then after a moment, he spoke.

"Okay if it's true, and you really reached here by some golden portal or something, then we should ask my father or some elders because they might know more..."

With gratitude at his words, I hugged him. "Thanks...for believing and finding a way for me..."

He looked stunned at the sudden affection but then wrapped his hands around me and then after some moments of silence, we both pulled back. "Okay buddy! So the first destination is to my father!" He then bounced around with me like some excited bunny and then led the way to his father, Aiser's castle.

CHAPTER5

I met the cocky boys careless father

We bounced to Aiser's castle and he led me to a room in the farthest corner, upstairs. We pushed open the doors. Aiser looked up from his study and smiled warmly at Eileph and then switched his gaze towards me with suspicion.

Eileph looked at me waiting for me to do something specific but I just stood like a confused potato. Eventually he leaned towards me and whispered. You're in the presence of a king...bow to him...

I snapped out of my confused state and bowed to him clumsily. He narrowed his eyes at me but didn't comment.

"Father this is Charlotte...She is lost and well.... she is a mortal.." He said casually.

Aiser looked at him, stunned. "A human in Icelia?? That's quite rare..."

I looked at them both hopefully.

"It's rare and thats why we came to seek your help father" He said casually like it was obvious why we were here.

Aiser looked at us both and teared his gaze away to the bookshelves and walked over to find a particular book.

He searched through some books and then his face turned pale as he realised that one of his books were missing.

"The most important book is missing. The Icelia's full history book. The one which had answers to everything..." Aiser said in a scared tone.

"It might be there father...You should recheck..."Eileph said.

"Its missing son..." He then turned towards me and gave me a pitiful look, silently communicating that I was hopeless now and finding a way back home will be far from possible.

I frowned upon seeing his face and the silent communication and when Eileph saw it, he dragged me out the study room and into a room with cushion chairs and tables to discuss another ways for helping me to go back home.

CHAPTER 6

We seeked help from a bluntass

He took a seat in one of the cushions and gestures me to sit opposite to him. Once I took my seat, he began.

"Charlotte there might be another way....Dont loose hope. We can get you out of here soon...What if we ask Rodie? He is a friend of mine and he is rocking in finding a way to almost everything!" He smiled at me.

I looked at him with hope in my eyes and gave a smiled back.

"There we go bud! Dont loose hope and...wait- how old are you? You look young like me.."

I shifted my gaze to his eyes. "Am 11 years old and what about you?"

He smiled at me warmly, his eyes crinkling at the corners at then he replied. "12 years old..."

I smiled to myself knowing I made the correct predictment when he was fighting off that crazy monster woman.

"Come on lets go meet Rodie..." He took my hand then we dashed through the castle doors and into the wild.

"Rodie lives in the woods inside a huge tree..." He said while running with me.

"Wait what- why does he live inside a tree" I asked him curiously.

"Well good question but I dont know too.." He grinned and then again continued dashing with me.

We both came to a stop and Eileph turned towards me with lazy expression. "There. We are here and I must warn you, Rodie is a blunt person so just dont mind his insults and also, he is kinda our age and my buddy so if he insults you too hard am here to back up for ya"

He gave me a wink and I rolled my eyes. "Yeah sure..." I answered while he knocked on the door, expecting him."

And sure enough, the door flew open and there stood Rodie.

Unlike anything I've expected, Rodie had brown curly hair, hazel eyes and brown skin unlike Eileph who had black hair, blue eyes and tanned skin even though it was snowing which intrigued me.

"Hey bro soo why is there a girl with you? She looks like a confused potato."

I looked a bit offended but I remembered Eileph's warnings of him being blunt so I just shaked my head and acted nonchalant.

Eileph looked at me and nodded while smiling slightly. Then he turned to Rodie. "Bro this is Charlotte. She is a mortal and from earth I think. She somehow got stuck so you're gonna find a way to send her back."

"What? Why would I do that?" Rodie answered, slightly annoyed.

Eileph took my hand and stepped inside Rodie's tree house thingy and then before I knew it, we were all sitting on some wooden chairs while Rodie grew more annoyed by seconds.

"Look I dont even know who this girl is and no way am going to help her."Rodie looked at Eileph with a bored expression.

"Bro c'mon just do something. Look at this poor thing...." Eileph began bribing Rodie with his faviourite snacks until finally, he accepted to help me.

"Fine. I'll help but, you do know that we have some other hobbies of protecting the kingdom rather than helping a human right?" Rodie asked bluntly.

Eileph rolled his eyes. "I know, I know. And I'll protect the kingdom when I grow up. Its not like we are going to die anyways. We are immortals."

Rodie just sighed and nodded while I looked stunned.

"Wait...you guys are... immortal?" I stuttered out with wide eyes.

Eileph shifted his gaze from Rodie to me. He nodded. "Everyone in Icelia are immortal. Did you seriously forget that? I think this is why you're an easy target."

Then I remember him saying that everyone were immortals in Icelia a few hours ago which made me embaressed.

"Enough chitchats. If you wanna go back, follow me." Rodie interrupted us which earned him an eye roll from Eileph.

Soon we were following Rodie.

CHAPTER 7

The Blunt boy’s Machine Wont work

He led us to the farthest corner of his house and there we saw some bookshelves with some books. Rodie went and pressed a hidden lever situated on the it and then it opened revealing a hidden room.

I gasped. Eileph just stared at the entrance like he had seen it a thousand times which made sense as they were bestfriends.

"Come" Rodie said as he advanced into the hidden room with us following behind. Once we were at the end of the room, he turned towards us.

"Show me your hand charlotte." He demanded which annoyed me but I obeyed because I knew that my survival was in the hands of these two people.

He took out a syringe and collected my blood which made me yelp but Eileph immediately covered my mouth and helped me calm down.

"There now I got your blood." Rodie muttered. He then transferred the blood into a bottle and mixed some stuff along with it. After those complex process, he placed the mixture into a machine hoping for a result.

"Rodie are you sure this is going to show her the way out?" Eileph asked him sarcastically.

"Probably. I've got her blood and stuff so the machine should give us a solution" He replied casually.

After some moments, Rodie's face turned into frustration and Eileph's expression turned into worry which made me panic.

"Did it provide the solution?" I asked hopefully.

Eileph answered. "Unfortunately no.. Charlotte..."

My face paled. That meant that I would be stuck here for a while or maybe even stuck here forever. I looked at Rodie with a determined expression.

"Rodie something might have went wrong...please try again..." I said to him desperately.

Rodie looked at me and sighed. "Am not wrong...I have done this multiple times... You're stuck here for a while... You should get used to our world Charlotte."

Eileph moved towards me and patted my shoulders. "Its okay bud we will protect you..."

"But I want to leave...this is not my world and I miss my home,my parents, my...everything..." My voice trembled.

I was trying not to scream.

Trying not to broke down.

And definitely trying not to break things.

Eileph exchanged knowing looks with Rodie and answered. "We will find a way out Charlotte. But lets just try to get comfortable right now. Dont loose hope. We will never stop trying."

He reassured me which calmed me down, a bit.

CHAPTER 8

Bluntass told me that I am here for a reason

Rodie then looked at me suspiciously and then asked. "How did you get here?"

I gazed at him. "I saw a golden light and went upto touch it and then the next thing I new, I was in a place covered in snow and fir trees with a beautiful castle." I replied.

"Curiosity killed the cat." He muttered and I rolled my eyes.

He then teared his gaze to his best friend and exchanged some looks, silently communicating.

Then Eileph's face turned into excitement and slight shock.

They both turned towards me. Eileph looked at me with excitement, shock and concern. He began.

"Charlotte, do you think you came here for a reason? Like came to Icelia for changing something or do something much more?" He asked carefully.

I shaked my head slightly. "No way... Why would they want a kid like me to change stuff? Am not someone brave enough do much more..."

Then Rodie interrupted. "Icelia only opens portals to the mortals who are desired to make changes and to those who are brave, courageous and have a strong heart...Or maybe you are something else entirely..."

Those sentences made Eileph laugh. "Dont be silly. She is a mortal. Look at her...Maybe the portal had made some mistakes.."

I looked at them, my mouth agape in wonder and pure confusion.

Rodie shaked his head and looked at Eileph. "The portals dont make mistakes...Nobody can see the portal unless Icelia chooses them..."

"Are you sure? Because am not that type of person who is courage enough to even kill a baby spider..." I asked him nervously.

"Very. sure." He emphasized each words that proved he was serious which just made me even more nervous.

"Maybe dont scare her with your blunt ass Rodie?" Eileph gave him a death stare but Rodie ignored it.

Eileph then turned towards me. "Okay you know what? If you're scared, this will be more difficult... Just breath and lets take this situation calmly..."

I looked at him like he was crazy. "You expect ME to calm down after that stupid portal took me from my cozy house right on CHRISTMAS MORNING!?"

He laughed nervously.."okay I take back my sentence."

"Seriously just calm down.... you're not gonna die or something..." Rodie said sarcastically.

I finally snapped at him which was enough to shut his mouth and earned a nod of approval from Eileph.

"Finally. Someone needed to do that." Eileph muttered.

CHAPTER 9

An ugly monster attacked us

"You know what? Lets just ask Rillea... She has that machine that shows why people get sucked in by that portal..." Eileph continued with a hopeful expression.

Rodie nodded in agreement and then we were soon moving towards the exit of his house and deeper into the mysterious woods.

Suddenly, a soft bellowing sound shook the ground beneath us. It seemed like something was about to pop up from the grounds.

"Shit its the bloody Karvar." Eileph shouted while Rodie took my arm and led me to a tree and instructed me to keep quite and hide.

I didnt have to be told twice. I hid behind the tall, fat tree and popped my head out to observe.

Then I saw it.

A monstrous, weird, creepy looking thing emerging from the grounds with Rodie and Eileph now standing their ground, with weapons drawn pointing at the creature.

"Oh-ho-ho-ho" the creature laughed cruelly with amusement. "Aiser's son and his bestfriend trying to defeat me from something?" It chuckled mockingly. "I smell mortal flesh... Hand over the human right now and you're free to go"

Eileph gazed at the monster defiantly. I could see the fire burning in Rodie's eyes too.

"If you want the mortal, then you have to go through us first." Rodie said with courage and I saw Eileph nodding approvingly.

The monster gave them a mocking smile. "Alright little ones. Let's see what you've got." The creature lunged towards them with some kind of power.

Its horns were sharp and glistening in the moonlight and I almost forgot its night. Its yellowish teeth were extended, its clawed hand now aimed at their faces and its scaly, bony legs now aimed at their collars to snipe them up.

Rodie raised his sword towards the creature's heart while Eileph suddenly disappeared and reappeared back behind the monster's back. He charged at the monsters neck with a determined face.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Two powerful friends of mine now fighting a huge scary monster? The thought of it made me concerned and weirdly amused at the same time.

Eileph stabbed the monster in the throat but due to the sudden movement of pain by the creature caused its claws to swipe dangerously towards Rodie.

His forhead got a cut. Blood seeps out but he didnt seem to be hurt. He was still standing his ground. Rodie then charged towards the creature's heart while he was busy with Eileph.

Suddenly, a sickening crack woke me up from my amused state.

There, lying on the ground was the monster with his head rolling off its neck and into the ground. On top of the monster, stood Rodie and Eileph. Both of them were bleeding.

Rodie got a gash on his forehead while Eileph scraped his knees and both of them broke a few bones.

I ran upto them and hugged them tightly. "Oh my god what was that! That was intense... Thank you guys!" Eileph just shaked his head while Rodie nodded tiredly.

"You both are hurt so badly. C'mon lets get you guys to the doctors..."

But they both refused.

"When we reach Rillea, she would heal us." Eileph said. "After all Rillea is a witch... Its easy for her to know why you are here and to create healing potions. And her father is a great wizard." Rodie remarked.

Without waiting for furthur explanations, I lifted them up with the help of my arms and legs. They were now walking wobbly with the support of my shoulders.

"Turn left.... Then straight...and right..." Eileph pointed out the directions and with his help, we kept moving to Rillea's hut.

CHAPTER 10

I met a which who was nice

We reached Rillea's hut. It was a small one with fairy lights hanging from the walls and fixed windows with bars. Rodie broke from my grip and limped forward to knock on the door.

The door flew open after a matter of a few seconds and there stood her father. He had a square face with a bushy moustache and drooping, tired eyes. He looked at Rodie and Eileph and greeted them with a smile and he sure didn't forget to shoot me with a dirty, suspicious look I always get in this place.

"Ah... Eileph and Rodie... How ya doing?" He asked.

"We're good sir... We just came here to help this human out and treat our wounds..." Rodie replied.

"Oh... i see..." He shoot me another death glare before gesturing us to go inside.

While making my way into his house, I couldn't help but notice that everyone in this world was completely hostile towards mortals... Well except for Eileph and Rodie.

Inside, I saw a girl around our age and guessed it was the Rillea girl they were talking about. She had blonde curly hair, light blue eyes and pouty lips. The complete opposite of a witch I always made up in my mind.

"Hey Rillea!" Rodie called out warmly which earned him a smile from her. Eileph crossed his arms and walked upto her too.

Soon we were all led by her into a room with some potions, some cauldron, some ancient books and different ingredients which spiked my interest.

"Guys lay down and let me work my magic." She said sweetly as she began to heal the cuts that Eileph and Rodie earned from the fight earlier. She then used a spell to knit the broken bones together.

"There we go...all finished..." She smiled.

"Thanks Rillea..." Rodie said which made Rillea smile again and I swear I saw Rodie blushing.

"Okay lovebirds... We still have another important situation to deal with..." Eileph interrupted.

Rodie gave him a sharp look but he ignored it and gestired towards me standing there with my arms crossed.

"Oh...I forgot about that... Alright c'mon them..." Rodie finally noticed.

Eileph took my hand and led me towards Rillea who was waiting patiently to check me for any abnormalities and why I was sucked in by the golden portal provided only for certain mortals or someone else.

"Alright Charlotte is it? Can you lay down on this bed for me please?" She asked politely.

As I lay down, she laid her hand on my forehead checking for some abnormalities and I saw her eyes widen in excitement, shock and something else.

I was a bit scared of her reaction because when this happens, I know its something bad.

CHAPTER 11

I found out that I am the choose one

She leaned over to Eileph and Rodie and whispered something which made them match her reaction. Now I was getting really worried.

"Charlotte! Girl you're so special!" Rillea squealed. Both Eileph and Rodie grinned at me happily.

"W-wha- what do you mean?" I asked carefully, already knowing that whatever it was, it was something dangerous as it was exciting to these people.

"Girl, you're basically the chosen hero for Icelia." Rodie commented casually.

"WHAT!?" I exploded.

"Imagine you fighting monsters off, redeeming powers, finally becoming a loved mortal in a world that hates them..." Eileph said softly.

"Wait a second. Slow down..." I was heaving with panic, frustration and some other sort of complex emotions.

"I cant even kill an ant without grieving for hours! How do you expect a kid like me to save your world from monsters and stuff when I can't save mine!" I continued.

Rillea placed a hand on my shoulder to comfort me. "Look Charlotte. Icelia chose you because they see the courage and wisdom in you." She said comfortingly.

Rodie continued. "Plus you can fight with us. We are like a group you know...Saving Icelia from vicious monsters and creatures that does harm to our world..."

Then Eileph rubbed my back to sooth me. "Once you save Icelia, you might be able to go back to earth. This world needs you Charlotte. Icelia hates mortals but if you save them from the monsters roaming around here, this world might start to like mortals again..." He said with a hopeful expression.

I thought for a while. People here are trying to kill mortals... If I became a hero in this world, they might stop trying to harm humans.

I hated the idea but then again it was for humans and the future mortals who would get stuck here just like me...

I hestitated for a while but then agreed and took their hands.

Rillea smiled softly at me. Eileph nodded in approval and Rodie grinned at me.
